Will be editing this first post as I know more about this router. For specs, see the following link.
QNO FQR8010
Easy enough to set up. Changed the router's ip to match my network's, and I was amazed how fast it connected to my ISP (nearly instant) as soon as I connected the modem to the WAN port. None of that waiting time i get with my DI-604.
Went to the General setting > QOS, and noticed, the Upstream/Downstream were both set to 512 kbps. Since I have @ 700/3400 kbps connection, I changed the setting accordingly.
Here's another amazing part; the router saved my settings without missing a beat in my yahoo.com ping! That's another feature of this router. No downtime during setting changes. ^_^
-Looked for a slow video stream earlier. Much much better now than in my cheap DI-604. Will test in many more sites later to make sure.
-Finally got the bandwidth limiting feature to work. thanks to stync's advice, i removed the min setting for the downstream, enabled the application, and applied it. at 100kbps, facebook was crawling. at 200kbps, much better response. since i don't need to limit the bandwith, i removed it again. at least now, i know what to do when there's a bandwidth hog in the shop. easy enough to catch them by checking the router's traffic log (each ip is shown with their respective %bandwidth usage).
-Finally able to test out with 2nd WAN using another pc and my WeROAM usb wifi through internet sharing.
removed the dsl router (while pinging yahoo.com), it only timeout once, then resumed the ping, noticing the increase in response time. that's expected since the usb wifi is much slower then my line dsl. no noticeable degradation in response time. so far so good...
According to QNO tech, if you want to use only WAN1 (your faster isp) and only keep WAN2 as your backup, then you should protocol bind all traffic, and specify the ip range for all the network's ips to WAN1. failover still occurs, but as soon as the WAN1 connection resumes, all traffic will revert back to it. Perfect sana, if it works. So far, it doesn't. :-/
More info soon...
