this os is also good for people having trouble installing ylmf os due to cmos clock, bad sectors on the Hard drive and downloading YLMF OS due to heavy traffic. The difference is YLMF OS is more like windows while GoS is much like MAC OS (talking about learning curve point of view). Here are some procedures tweaked for Internet cafe shops and for people that wants torrent downloads.
Download GoS 3.1

burn ito to a cd using infrarecorder using the lowest speed.

1. Enable bios to boot at CD/DVD
2. In the splash screen when "try Gos without any change to your computer" just press Enter in your keyboard and select english as language, as it boots and goes to GUI screen you can test your hardware.
3. Installing GOS to your Hard drive ----- click install icon on the desktop (the green one below Gos Home)
4. during installation just follow instruction. (i used erase the entire disk)
5. when installation finished reboot your pc and enter your username and password.
Tweaking:
Unlike YLMF OS there is no start button but the GoS button on the upper left side
1. click Gos> system preferences> administration> login window then click the security tab and click enable automatic login and click your username that you have created
2. click Gos> system preferences> administration> software sources. then click updates check all under ubuntu updates.
3. GOS> system preferences> administration> update manager then click check then install
4. GOS> Add remove... On the show options click
all Open source Application
install the following:
Accessories
Gedit (if its already installed go to graphics menu)
graphics menu
camera, camorama webcam viewer, digiKam, Djview, document viewer, Feh, Gimp, gthumb Image viewer, Gwenview, Image viewer (gpicview), mirage, Okular, Photoprint, Preview and xpdf
Sound and video menu:
Alsa modular sync, amarok, cheese, guvcview, Mpplyer, Mpplayer for firefox, Vlc media player, and WinFF
System menu:
Device manager, Gmount-iso, Gnome format, Samba, sysinfo, and unetbootin
internet:
java
then click apply after you check all what application you want to install.
5. installing other application
a. microsoft core fonts
Gos> accessories> terminal then copy paste
sudo apt-get install msttcorefonts
b. Flash player
download it at
get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ then select .deb for ubuntu 8.04 then at firefox download select save (gdebi package installer) and will install automatically after your download
6. networking with windows or with other linux machine
a. go to GOS> system preferences> adminstration> samba
configure your network here when prompt just click anybody
b. Gos> accessories> terminal
type or copy paste
sudo gedit /etc/samba/smb.conf
then edit smb.conf and find:
; name resolve order = lmhosts host wins bcast
change to
name resolve order = lmhosts wins bcast host
delete ";" at the beginning of the line
7. Gos> system preferences> hardware drivers check if you are using nvida or ati video card and used the appropriate driver.
8. reboot
9. during reboot or i shoud say grub boot please press esc key and click (use arrow keys) recovery mode then click xfix then click resume
there you Go up and running Gos System
