TOPIC: Virus Changing folders to shortcuts

Virus Changing folders to shortcuts 1 year, 5 months ago #274492

lately my lanshop has been infected by this USB virus which changes the contents of the USB drives into shortcuts.
search ko sa google, walang masyadong information about this virus.

Use Panda USB Vaccine to stop the infection from spreading.

To restore your customer USB files to original state use this command

attrib -s -h -r f:/*.* /s /d (f: stands for your driver letter)

yeah, i already was able to recover the files using the attrib command.
the annoying thing is, this virus cannot be detected until it's too late.
weird thing is, the anti-virus community doesn't really give importance to this, as proof on the limited articles found on the net about this virus.
all i can find are solutions on how to recover the files after they have been infected already.

Doesn't really matter what it is. it's still an autorun.inf launched virus. very easy to remove and prevent infections. never just rely on your antivirus, never.

thanks Bien, you are right.

but still, this is a pretty old virus, and therefore the antivurs makers should've had a defense against it by now, it's quite surprising they don't.

at dmateo: updated everyday ang antivirus ko, that's one of the things i make sure everyday.
